In the past two months, three of my pieces have been published. One poem and two short pieces (one fiction, one nonfiction).
I also spoke at my college's poetry reading. There were about 200 people there and I was reading a piece about my turbulent childhood and the night terrors that followed me into my teenage years. I never really think about the emotional aspect of reading--the bared, naked feeling--until I'm halfway through the piece. Of course, I did, when I noticed how deathly silent the crowd was.
It was the third event that I've read at, so I did pretty well.
I really love attending events like that, and I was received very warmly. My state's poet Laureate attended and read as well.
Otherwise, I just finished up this semester of college and have been working four-five days a week. There is a story that is stuck in my head, and the first line keeps repeating itself broken-record style in my ear.
I'm still terrified of my own writing.
I'm trying to get over that, slowly, so that I can accomplish all I want with my work.
Wish me luck
